Legal Assistance for Not-For-Profit GroupsThe Evansville Bar Association has a program designed to offer assistance to Not-For-Profit organizations that provide food, shelter, clothing or health care to low income residents of Vanderburgh County. Agencies that meet these guidelines may request an Attorney for a specific task, and a volunteer is assigned based on the areas of practice for which they have volunteered. If you represent such an organization you may contact the EBA by phone, 426-1712, or e-mail to ebash@evansville.net. Indiana University School of Law—Bloomington Nonprofit Legal ClinicIU School of Law Bloomington announces the opening of the Nonprofit Legal Clinic ("NPLC"), a new student legal clinic designed to deliver free legal services to the Indiana nonprofit community and afford students the opportunity to work directly with organizational clients while in law school. Clinical students are overseen by NPLC Director and Visiting Associate Clinical Professor of Law, Cindy M. Lott. Joining other clinical opportunities offered to law students at Indiana Law, the NPLC is poised to enroll its first students in January 2008. Students will work directly with clients and gain hands-on experience with organizational clients on a variety of substantive matters. The NPLC, a state-wide clinic, will work with existing Indiana nonprofit entities or individuals wishing to form a nonprofit within Indiana; projects to be handled by student clinicians will be transactional or advisory in nature, i.e., the NPLC will not handle litigation matters.
